My teaching, choreographic and performance  practice reflects the culmination of the diverse experiences I have had as a freelance performer, choreographer and educator.  I draw from my work within the forms of classical ballet, dance theater, postmodern dance, film, opera, improvisation, dance science and immersive theater to promote versatility, curiosity and ways of thinking and working in the body that can be applied to many different styles of dance, as well as varying artistic and professional settings.

As a lover of abstraction and cross-cultural concepts rooted in otherworldliness, my choreographic work often uses both classical and contemporary vernacular to create a meditative environment within the framework of ritual.  My choreographic work has been commissioned by Dayton Ballet, Dayton Dance Initiative, Dayton Dance Conservatory, Vidal Sassoon (NYC), Goodyear Arts (NC), Northern Plains Dance (ND), Mohawk Valley Ballet (NY) and Virginia Governor’s School.  I have taught as part-time faculty at Rutgers University (NJ)  in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, Virginia Governor’s School and currently teach as part-time faculty at Wright State University (OH).

I’m a Dancer

In NYC, I have had the pleasure of  working with a varied roster of classical and contemporary choreographers such as Laura Peterson, David Parker, Vanessa Walters, John Carrafa, Andrew Schneider, John Heginbotham, Kim Brandstrup, Danny Pelzig, Jill Sigman, Stefanie Nelson, Nia Love, Janice Lancaster, Sharon Moore, Ben Asriel, Janessa Clark, among others.  I have toured internationally as a dancer with the avant-garde performance troupe and electro pop band Fischerspooner, in collaboration with the experimental theater company, The Wooster Group.  I have performed soloist roles in the Bessie Award winning productions Fraulein Maria, choreographed by Doug Elkins and Third Rail Project’s Then She Fell.

I completed my Pilates Mat certification from Kinected Pilates under the direction of Kelly Kane in 2012.  My Pilates Mat teaching methodology is heavily inspired by the connection between the mind and body to aid in rehabilitation, injury prevention, nervous system regulation and awareness of daily movement patterns.  I aim to cultivate the body’s innate wisdom with an intentional movement practice that strengthens the deepest layer of our muscular system: ultimately providing stability to our joints, greater awareness of postural control and balance, enhancement of agility and mobility and overall body confidence.

From 2012-2020, I taught Pilates Mat privately and in group settings in Brooklyn, NY at Park Slope Yoga Center, The Armory YMCA, New Leaf Pilates and Body Reserve Fitness.  As part-time faculty, I have taught Pilates Mat to the following dance companies and schools: Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Dayton Ballet, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Rutgers University, Wright State University, Virginia Governor’s School and Stivers Performing Arts High School.

During the pandemic, I began offering Zoom sessions and currently host weekly small group classes, large group classes, workshops and privates online.  I have a catalog of over a hundred Pilates Mat classes with a different focus available for purchase.
